There must be many hundreds of people in our area who learned to play a musical instrument when they were at school. Only a few reach a standard high enough to make performing their career. Some have gone on to teach music but most will have embarked on totally different careers. Love of music will almost certainly have stayed with them and they may still want the chance to develop this interest. That is when an amateur ensemble such as ours comes into its own, offering the chance to perform with others. We also provide an opportunity for those who came to music later in life and accept that they are unlikely to achieve the standard required by many orchestras. Without audition, we are usually able to accommodate anyone who is happy to strive towards playing worthwhile music.
We have an exciting programme of events planned for 2013 and beyond.
More musicians are wanted , especially young players, so check out the
Band Line-up page if you are considering joining a wind band.
