Latest News - January 2026

We've started the new year playing quite a few new pieces of music. As always, we aim to play 'a bit of everything', so we're enjoying playing some rock, fun TV themes and inspiring film scores. 

As always, we try to play music from all styles and genres for two reasons. Firstly, it's good to be able to have a strong repertoire readily available so we can respond to different requests for concerts - such as themed concerts.

Secondly, playimg different styles of music, such as rock, pop, jazz, swing, marches,  musicals and classical keeps our rehearsals refreshing, the band engaged and as a result,  we improve our musicanship and have some fun at the same time.

So, with that in mind, here's an extract of what we've been playing recently:

• Hot Stuff (Donna Summer) -  pop, made famous again by the  'Full Monty'
• Meatloaf - The Hits - classic 80s rock
• The Standard of St George (march)
• March of the Trolls (classical, Grieg)
• The Lion King (medley from the musical)
